PEUGEOT has announced the start of production at the Silver Star Auto assembly plant of its globally acclaimed SUV, the PEUGEOT 3008 and the all-new 1-ton PEUGEOT pickup, the LANDTREK. 

After a commercial partnership that started in 2018, PEUGEOT imports and distributes a diverse range of CITROEN and PEUGEOT models responding to various mobility needs and offering an outstanding driving experience to its customers in Ghana.

PEUGEOT and Silver Star Auto: a fruitful partnership

PEUGEOT has begun production of the 3008 and LANDTREK SUVs in Ghana.

With over 25 years of experience, Silver Star Auto has a strong heritage and presence in the Ghanaian automotive market with nationwide service outlets that meet the sales and after-sales needs of PEUGEOT and CITROËN clients. The Silver Star Auto Assembly plant is owned by Kalmoni Family and has the initial capacity to produce in SKD (Semi Knock Down) 4,500 cars annually.

The PEUGEOT 3008, an international success story

The PEUGEOT 3008 is one of the most popular SUVs globally and has won several accolades including “European Car of the Year 2017” and “Car of the Year in Ghana 2019”. It is well-equipped both internally and externally with safety features such as 6 airbags, ABS brakes with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, onboard computer and an 8-inch touch screen. It also offers exceptional driving performance with its 1.6L PureTech 130PS engine that is coupled with 8-speed automatic transmission.

The first vehicles are to be assembled at Silver Star Auto’s state-of-the-art facility located in Tema, which employs 400 people. The plant is equipped with modern equipment and a very well-trained workforce.

The LANDTREK, an all-new 1-ton pickup

With the Landtrek, Peugeot is targeting an international market in order to promote its growth. The brand's objective is to produce a 1-ton pickup with a strong personality, with sharp and modern lines. It is a vehicle dedicated to professional activities and family leisure, which offers undeniable versatility.

The LANDTREK will be available with a single engine: a 2.4-liter turbo diesel developing 178 horsepower

This new vehicle is the first derivative of the 508 platform, which was designed for the saloon and station wagon versions of the 508 and 3008. The Landtrek has already begun its career in a number of countries in South America and Africa and its deployment is continuing with the aim of being present in 65 countries.

Peugeot is targeting the three regions of the world that account for 94% of global sales of 1-ton pickups: South America, Africa and Asia. The potential of this market is great and the French company is raising its capacities to the challenge thanks to a design shared with its partner Chang'an.
